Steps to building a website
Each web project is different, but the process of getting from idea to a live site will look something like this:
- Ideas
- Aims of the website - online advert, booking facility or just a presence on the web
- Intended audience - who will use the website, why would they use the website
- Content - what do your customers need to know or want to know
- Images - are they required, who will provide them
- Look and feel - preliminary ideas
- Hosting arrangements - where your website is held, any existing arrangements
- Updating - frequency of updates, who will do the updates
- Build stage
- I develop draft web pages based on ideas discussion
- We review the draft pages
- I rework and we review as required until we're all happy
- Add final content
- Launch
- You agree you're happy for the website to go public
- I publish the website on the internet
- Hand-holding and moral support plus any small amendments for an agreed period
- Support
- You carry out your own updates or
- I train you to carry out your own updates or
- I do your updates for you
