Websites

Here are two websites I have built for other people. They have both developed significantly over the last couple of years from very basic sites to somewhat less basic sites.

In the course of building these I pretty much learnt as I went along, generally trying only to do things that I understood rather than just using somebody else's template or code without understanding it. I have employed the same approach with this site.

Earlier this year I discovered the wonders of css, which makes things a lot easier in general, once you've got used to the way things work. I have also discovered how difficult it is to get things to look the same in different web browsers, or to be more specific, how difficult it is to get things to display properly in Internet Explorer. At the moment I'm teaching myself php, which opens up a whole lot of other possibilities.

There's some information about how both sites have developed over time on the pages - click the images below or the links on the left for further reading.

I'm interested in building new websites, contact me if you're thinking of having one built and would like to know more.

I have summarised some of the key things I've learned here, in the hope that they may be useful to others.
